Yosemite Lodging and Cabins

The Yosemite National Park lodging comparison chart was created to help the Yosemite visitor find the right lodging for their stay. This chart assumes that the visitor wants to be in or close to Yosemite Valley where most of the main visitor attractions are. Yosemite Valley is where most of the hotels, shops and restaurants are located. Found here is Half Dome and El Capitan in this 7 mile long, 3,000' deep valley. Many activities are also found here such as rock climbing, horse back riding, rafting and just relaxing on the sandy beaches of the Merced River. There is nothing else on earth like Yosemite Valley!

There is other lodging found inside the park besides that of DNC, the concessionaire. The Yosemite Lodging in Foresta is only 7 miles from Yosemite Valley and Yosemite West is just 16 miles from the valley. Both offer cabins and homes for rent that have kitchens, tv and other modern convinces not found in the valley lodging. They are both inside the parks gates so you wont have to wait in entrance station lines.

There is a lot of false advertising out there where hotels, etc claim to be inside the park or very close. For example, Tenaya Lodge advertises that they are 2 miles from Yosemite National Park. In fact they are only 2 miles from Yosemite's south gate but they are over an hour away from Yosemite Valley on a winding mountain road, Hwy 41.Many of the vacation rentals on Hwy 120 claim to be close to the park. They are somewhat close to the Hwy 120 entrance station but are 30 to 60 minutes from Yosemite Valley.

The list below is all lodging with web sites that are located within the borders of Yosemite. They are located inside the parks entrance gates. Once inside, you would no longer have to wait in lines to go through the gates. You are also much closer to all the scenic attractions found inside the park. These should be your first picks for visiting Yosemite.

is sorted by distance from Yosemite Valley starting with DNC lodging which is in Yosemite Valley. Yosemite Vacation Homes is next with cabins and homes close to Yosemite Valley. Located in a quiet small area off of Hwy 120 these homes are only 7 miles from Yosemite Valley. Next out would be the homes, cabins, and condos in Yosemite West which is 16 miles from Yosemite Valley. This development is somewhat more crowded and developed than Foresta so it has a bit more traffic and noise.
