National Parks event brings outdoors to Valley families May 30, 2008 - 7:38PM FRESNO - The fifth annual National Parks Family Day will bring Yosemite and Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks to Fresno residents for a day full of education, entertainment, and hands-on fun for the entire family on Saturday. Fresno residents will have an opportunity to win one of 400 FREE day passes to Yosemite and Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. There will also be live entertainment from dance, music, and performance groups throughout the day. National park rangers from Pinnacles, Juan Bautista de Anza, Sequoia and Kings Canyon, San Francisco Maritime, and Yosemite National Parks will be on hand to teach about the wildlife and cultural history of our parks. Philip Hoelzel, author of Como Acampar, will show families the basics of camping in the parks, and REI will teach children how to have fun and be safe outdoors. NPCA and the Central California Hispanic Chamber of Commerce established National Parks Family Day in 2004 to introduce the community of Fresno to its nearby national parks. The National Park Service, Yosemite Association, and Delaware North Companies, Inc., are also event partners.
